Weingreen Biblical Hebrew Course - Basic Starter Pack- Cassette Tapes
This is the starter kit for my home study Biblical Hebrew course.
You get the textbook, along with 45 pages of exercises and three 90-minutes cassette tapes that go along with the first 4 chapters of the book. Ideally, you would one chapter every week or two.
The 316 pages Weingreen textbook (from Oxford Press) is a classic which is quoted by almost every other Hebrew text, and is used by many colleges and universities. The strength of the book are the Hebrew to English exercises. The grammar lessons before each exercise are okay, but they are written at a very snobby and scholarly level. My exercises that supplement the book bring the material down to a level where a high-schooler or self-study student can understand it.
Two of the 90-minute tapes cover the lessons directly from the book. I read and explain every Hebrew to English exercise both slowly and at a faster rate. The third tape is called the "holistic" tape, which emphasizes vocabulary and some entirely Hebrew stories that I made up that use the vocabulary in your lessons.
I also include pocket-cards. They contain all the vocabulary for the first four lessons, along with some short phrases so that you are learning not just vocab, but also grammar. They are printed on card-stock, and you can cut them down to fit in your vest pocket or purse.
You'll be amazed. By lesson 3 you will be reading full sentences in Hebrew!
The "starter kit" includes my exercises and tapes for the first four lessons. When you decide to continue, you can order additional exercises and tapes for the following lessons.
